An abandoned Jewish school in eastern Slovakia is the starting point for this photo exhibition by Yuri Dojc.
The photo exhibition "Last Folio" by Yuri Dojc documents Jewish communities in Slovakia, where time has stood still since World War II. In 2006-2007, Dojc photographed the objects left behind and immortalized them with portraits as the only survivors of a bygone culture.
As the exhibition architect from The Royal Danish Library, I had the privilege of working on the project in close collaboration with film director Katya Krasova, who produced the exhibition and directed the film about the project, also shown in the exhibition. The exhibition featured eight oak frame showcases displaying 30 of Dojc's photographs, an exhibition wall with 18 portraits of Slovakian concentration camp survivors, a screening of Krasova's film 'Last Folio,' and two showcases displaying materials from The Danish Jewish Museum's archives. The exhibition was thoughtfully placed on the bridge between the old buildings of the library and the extension called The Black Diamond. It was an honor to be part of this meaningful project, which pays homage to the resilience of the human spirit.
